Silk types we manufacture
Pure mulberry silk
Long-staple, high-lustre continuous filament. The luxury benchmark for hand-knotted silk rugs — takes fine detail at high knot counts and shows depth of sheen under directional light.
Best for
Heirloom hand-knotted pieces at the top of the KPSI range.
Bamboo silk
Regenerated cellulose fibre with a bright silky sheen at a fraction of mulberry silk's cost. Excellent dye uptake.
Best for
Modern luxury retail and designer programs where sheen matters and price sensitivity is real.
Silk-wool blend
Silk highlights over a wool ground. Durability of wool with the surface interest of silk — the practical hospitality choice.
Best for
Contract and residential where silk shine is wanted underfoot without silk's care requirements.
Knot density — 80 to 150 KPSI
Every one of our silk rugs is hand-knotted at 80–150 knots per square inch. Higher KPSI = finer detail, thinner pile, higher price. Cross-link: [/glossary/knot-density](/glossary/knot-density).
| KPSI | Character | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 80–100 | Fine — clean geometric or medallion detail, generous scale patterns | Modern luxury retail, larger sizes |
| 100–120 | Very fine — curvilinear motifs, floral traditions | Traditional Persian-influenced designs |
| 120–150 | Master-grade — miniature detail, portrait and tapestry work | Signature pieces, collectors, ultra-luxury retail |
Bhadohi — India's carpet capital
Bhadohi carries a GI-tag from the Government of India — a geographical-indication registration protecting the region's centuries-old hand-knotted rug tradition. Introduced under Mughal patronage in the 16th century, refined by Persian master weavers, and preserved through generations of family workshops, the Bhadohi weave is now the country's most exported handmade-rug craft. Pihue is a modern certified manufacturer working inside that tradition — GoodWeave-audited looms, Oeko-Tex-tested outputs, ISO 9001 process control — with the workshop discipline global buyers require.
